Romancing Ilocos Norte (by Ivon Claire Domingo)

The model and fabulous young fashion photog, Ivon Domingo. She ought to be in photos herself.

Ericke says of Ivon, “She marches to the beat of her own drum.” Her other name is Beb. Why Beb? Nabebebang daw ang mga guys.

Ivon is a leader in her own right. The pretty photographer from San Nicolas is currently a UP Baguio student taking up Journalism. She has worked as an intern at the Philippine Daily Inquirer and ABS-CBN Broadcasting Company.

The Santa Monica Church

Formerly named San Miguel and built by the Augustinian friars during the Spanish Colonial period in the 17th century, the red brick church in Baroque and Neo-Classical style in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte is the largest in the entire Ilocos. It is a favorite for weddings because of its very long 137-meter aisle, the longest in the Philippines — a bride’s dream, I guess. Its popularity rose in 1983 when Irene Marcos, daughter of former-president F. Marcos, tied the knot with Gregorio Araneta III.
