Kapuluan Vista Resort’s Yummy Healthy Menu

Dining at Kapuluan is always a great gastronomic experience and never complete without  their famous margarita. Alcohol, in moderate amounts, is good for the heart 🙂

Mike and Alma grow their own veggies… and flowers.

These organic veggies make their eats extra special.

I had this garlic and sun-dried tomato pasta. I wanted to have a second serving but we were running out of time. I’ll have it again next time. Mike says they dry their own tomatoes.

For non-vegans, the best burger in Ilocos, promise!! Consistently grilled the way we like it — kinda burnt on the outside but very juicy inside, and with lots of fresh greens.

Their homemade bread toasted the French way.

Kapuluan in Pagudpud, the common denominator

We keep going back to this little piece of heaven tucked away in Balaoi, Pagudpud. We were there, again, yesterday.

Ambassador of surfing, actor Jericho Rosales and Pure Power Gabriel Valenciano were staycationing for the Holy Week. They hit the beach for some action.

I didn’t mind the sultry sun… the view was great!

Champion surfer Nikki de la Paz was impressive.

Another excellent surfer, architect Buji Libarnes, in red, was having a swell time. I guess everyone had positive vibes. Did I mention he designed the resort? The best choice, I think… someone who loves the beach and truly understands the whole surfing lifestyle.

Kapuluan’s very sweet and nice Alma Oida joined in.

Alma’s husband, Mike, is out to get his adrenalin fix. Both of them attend to the kitchen, their very own organic garden, their guests, the operations, and still find time to ride the waves.

This pair of Sperry Top-Siders caught my attention. I wonder who owns them?

He was taking photos of the surfin’ bunch. I asked if he is a photographer… he is more than that…

He turns out to be cinematographer Ricardo Jose “DBoy” Trofeo.  We talked about Lensbaby, Holga and Diana, Hasselblad, Panasonic LX-3, Leica, Nikon and Cannon, paperweights, Ridley Scott and Martin Scorsese, my camera viewer’s dirty protector and a lot more. His mother is a Rivas from Vigan. “Quiet” is how he described Northern Ilocos. Such a pretty straightforward but humble person… he directed the photography of  quite a number of films such as Nobody, Nobody but Juan.  He wouldn’t tell me; I had to search the net when I got home 🙂

Here’s a larger view of Echo.

Do you recognize this lady?

All geared-up here.

Ahh, BB Gandanghari! My family and I love her!

Love these guys, too. Thanks to Echo and Gab for being so nice.

My first shot of Echo

More on Kapuluan in my next post… hittin’ the sack in a while. It’s 7:18 am.
