Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there!

Mother’s Day lunch was with my eating buddies at Alain and Marianne’s place. We pooled ourselves together for a devil-may-care spread. There was lamb, ribeye, T-bone, Aristocrat-style chicken, braised glass noodles, poached shrimps, almond jelly with lychees, sweetened bananas with milk, pandan salad and coffee mangosteen ice cream. My guest, Sir Robbie Cereno of the UP Los Baños College of Forestry and Natural Resources, might have expected to see again pinakbet, bagnet, dinengdeng and longaniza which he has encountered a lot during his 5-day stay in Ilocos.
