Ilocanos make way for Make Your Own Havaianas 2014

MYOH2014 set3

The Havaianas event you and me have been waiting for kicks off once again at the Robinsons Ilocos Norte on the 23rd of May, Friday, and winds up on the 25th, Sunday.

Last year, we got our Ilocos pride pins on our flip-flops. This year, we say hello to the festive Brazilian street culture. To quote Vogue, “Brazilians have the ability to make a party out of nothing, and then make it the most exciting night you’ve ever had.” So it’s time to party with Make Your Own Havaianas full-customization out of Brazilian Carnavale bright, bold soles and straps and fun limited edition pins.

Anne Gonzalez, Terry SA Managing Director, says,  “Brazilian culture is all about self expression, and not being ashamed of how vividly you express it.”

2014’s commemorative pair features colorful Bonfims. These are Brazilian wish ribbons worn for good luck. The print wishes every wearer Alegria, Diversao, Empolgacao, Euforia, and Felicidade or Joy, Amusement, Excitement, Euphoria and Bliss – true to the Havaianas always summer spirit.

Brazilian inspired performances will make the event even more bouncing, as Capoeira, Mardi Gras, and Samba dancers hit up the dance floor every day at 5 in the afternoon.

As the summer season hits full throttle, tis the time of the year with our favorite Havaianas. See you, guys and girls! Viva Brasil!

Beached Up with Havaianas

Take me to Brasil

I’m usually just at home the day after Good Friday. My Havaianas never run out of stories to tell.

Making a splash at the Municipal Beach in Pagudpud were the fruity pop-up shop and beach bar. Havaianaticos were treated to Plato Wraps, halo-halo and summer spritzers. Selfie-ing just got more zealous:) There was visual fire dancing by sundown.

There’s something about Kit Mandac’s OOTD and her floral arrangement:) She’s matchy-matchy like the time she did the tropical flowers at the press launch of last year’s first MYOH in Ilocos.

MYOH 2013: Sand on my feet

MYOH2013 Limited Edition Sandboarding Pin

Finally, I’m sporting my own newly customized Havaianas:) Simmering down, albeit temporarily, from a month of agitation, grief, surprises, drama, panic attacks before facing another situation that’s  so awkward and alien to me. Will talk about it soon.

It was dizzying, promise! I brought home four unique pairs for four different people. As expected I got an earth-colored sole with a blau strap:) Brandon is the kickass fashion consultant, taking the place of kitschy Ericke. I respect his taste ‘coz he blends in what I like with his own opinion of what a girl should own. I nicknamed my Havaianas LEAD —  an owl… sandboarding… love for Ilocos… a state of mind.

If you want girly colors, they have, neon, check, charm pins, check, gold pins, check, crystals, check.

Catch the MYOH2013 at the Robinsons Ilocos Norte. It’s there til Sunday.
