The first Ilocos Norte Sunday eco bazaar: It pays to be green

Red Dot’s Me-Ann Cua-Macaraeg  just successfully launched their first Sunday eco-living bazaar, the first of its kind in Ilocos.  Participating friends were Pia Crisologo-Cua for Abra’s Pamora Farm, Mike and Alma Oida of Kapuluan Organic Garden (Pagudpud), Anne Ang for Easy Pha-Max Wheatgrass, Elaine Cua-Reyes for Messy Bessy Organic Cleaners, Tintin Alcid-Apostol for GIGA Bath and Body, Bernard and Me-Ann of Home Buddies and yours truly of BlauEarth Community Ties.

The bazaar continues until the 19th of December. We hope to see Saramsam Express and Bonsai Love in the coming Sundays.

The group hopes to be able to send its message across that it pays to be green.

Sales pitch: Mike Oida and his first customers.

Fresh from Mike and Alma’s organic garden in Kapuluan Vista Resort in Pagudpud. He brought arugula, mint, basil, lettuce and  papayas. And vermicompost too.

Pia Cua brought in pâté products and French-breed spring chicken from Abra’s free-range Pamora Farm, a Filipino-European Joint Venture undertaking.

The pâtés are completely free of preservatives, but have a shelf life of two years. It must be the brandy and cognac ingredients that help prolong their shelf life.

They have 6 pâté variants — Chicken Liver and Gizzard, Chicken Breast, Chicken Breast and Liver, Chicken Breast and Gizzard, Chicken Liver, Chicken Liver and Gizzard, and come in two sizes. I’m allergic to chicken, but because the French-breed chickens are fed only milk and corn, I tried a tiny bottle of gizzard and liver pâté, gosh, exquisite! No skin reaction so far.

The early birds.

Unique all-natural products from Messy Bessy. Alongside Messy Bessy is Earth and Me’s bestsellers like Boo Boo Cream for skin troubles, Seize the Sun kid’s sunblock, Yummy Creamy Tummy stretch mark cream and a lot more.

The GIGA Bath and Body products I’ve blogged about earlier.

I swear by their Slimming Soap. It worked

The prices are great!

Calling moms to pay for work uniforms☺Hidden is Easy Pha-Max Wheatgrass and all-natural colon cleanser kits. My target next Sunday!

From Home Buddies for home buddies and the not really home buddies.

Christmas gift suggestions.

There’s also something for the fashionistas. Heheh, no worries, Me-Ann knows your needs.

Omigosh, frozen sugarcane juice, the best thirst quencher on a sweltering day!

Kapuluan’s famous burrito for only 50 pesos. I had two and I’m craving for it while blogging.

The cutest eco bag on Alma’s shoulder. Made from recycled tanktops.

My very own space.

The fruit wines are made by the indigenous peoples of Adams. This Sunday, I brought bugnay, roselle, assem, santol, passion fruit, local cherry and duhat wines. Next time, I hope to be able to add Lola Ingga’s tapuey and dragon fruit wine from REFMAD Farms. Did I mention wine tasting is free? BTW, my folding wine rack is made from recycled materials — shipping wooden crate, old toy wire racks and used carton. Thanks to Jong Maximo, my wonderful sales assistant, who moonlights as a carpenter.

See you, guys,  next Sunday! Don’t forget your earth-friendly bayongs.
