While in Bulacan, a white paper bag (from Cello’s Doughnuts and Dips along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City I later learned) was handed to me by Lifestyle Network Executive Producer Ali Co. Inside the paper bag, I gaped at the most inviting layer of buttery crust. Like a sniffer dog, I wallowed in the smell of heaven.
Tearing the beauty was inevitable. Everything about it was extraordinary. I’m sure this is not an exaggerated reaction. Nor a knee-jerk response of the geographically deprived. The inside was pillow fluffy in contrast to the fancy extra-dense doughnuts I reviewed last. The frosting struck me as a frangible, shrunken cheese-infused less sweet buttercream. That to me is delicate.
Ending this doughnut post with a quote from Oscar Wilde “Between the optimist and the pessimist, the difference is droll. The optimist sees the doughnut; the pessimist the hole!” I hope you are having a nice weekend, everyone! Keep safe.
