I’ve always thought of true red lipstick as high maintenance. It’s a color that typifies glamor and sophistication. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I wore the color on the lips. Nevertheless, I know MAC Ruby Woo is hard to come by, especially in a place like Laoag, so I was enticed into buying this red. Call it an impulse purchase that turned into serendipity. Comparing it to other reds I’ve owned in the past, this is the kind of red you’d often see on Hollywood stars like Rihanna, who just launched with MAC her own Riri Woo, a red lipstick that fans say is not so different from Ruby Woo.
Grooving on the hype, Ruby Woo is a classic vivid bluish red that’s appropriate for everyday wear. It’s fresher to leave the rest of the face simple and wear it with a laidback outfit. I found the retro matte formulation incomparable. Though dense, but without the heavy feel, it actually needs no liner, lasts the whole day, and still looks and feels good without lip balm. I have thin lips and I am supposed to stay away from matte lipsticks, but for some reason unimaginable, my lips don’t appear too skinny. I know there’s something in this red that brightens up the entire face, making the skin seem fairer.
