Got a peek into the Oidas’ latest project. The name Tacos del Norte itself is a dead giveaway. By the looks of things, it’s more than a taco stand. Mike and Alma were so kind to let me sample fish tacos… so very Baja, SoCal, complete with pickled jalapeños and a good hot sauce homemade from organic chili peppers grown in the couple’s garden at Kapuluan Vista Resort. Exactly how Mike puts it. “It’s the authenticity!” adds Alma, referring to the Tacos del Norte eats. They lived in San Diego, California, before finally settling down in Pagudpud.
It’s opening soon, hopefully within the week, says Mike. For those who cannot wait, however, the good news is tacos and burritos are now available. Try the yummy fish specialties with hot fish that melts in your mouth. Tacos Del Norte is at the La Tabacalera Ilocano Lifestyle Center right beside the Museo Ilocos Norte.
The dad puts a twinkle in Alexa’s eyes…. cheesecake night for the foodies! Within a stone’s throw from Tacos del Norte is Cheesecake Etc..
I noticed the Choco True Fire only after I was stuffed with storemade langka (jackfruit) ice cream and White Chocolate Pistachio Cheesecake, which I shared with Brandon. I would have loved to dip my fork into it had I seen it right away. It reminds me of Bizu’s devilish Fire macarons , which I don’t get to see on their shelves these days.
The langka ice cream was fine, but I would have preferred the cream on top, so that it doesn’t debase the ice cream flavor near the bottom.
I need to bike to Share Tea first thing in the morning:)
