The Department of Tourism (DOT), Tourism Promotions Board (TBP) and Globe Telecom seal partnership through a memorandum of agreement to aggressively promote the new tourism brand “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” and the Pinoy Homecoming campaign, in pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 181 “Declaring the Years 2011 to 2016 as the Pinoy Homecoming Years, in a prelude to the 114th Independence Day celebrations at the Ilustrado Restaurant in Intramuros, Manila, yesterday.
“Embodying the new voice for Philippine tourism, the “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign is an open invitation for people to join in for a more heartfelt, interesting and complete touristic experience,” DOT Assistant Secretary/TPB Officer-in-Charge Domingo Ramon “Chicoy” Enerio III said. “It’s been making a lot of headway six months after its launch,” he added.
To fortify the “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign, Pinoy Homecoming was designed to encourage overseas Filipinos, particularly the 2nd/3rd generation and their peers and colleagues from the mainstream, who are either relatives or friends to come and visit or invest in the country and avail of the incentive-based balikbayan program, wherein they can avail of various discounts from its many merchant partners, and be ambassadors of promoting the country to the world.
On the other hand, Ms. Rizza Maniego-Eala of Globe Telecom International Business Group announced that Globe is embarking on a multi-million dollar expansion project which includes top tourist destinations.
Synergy between DOT and Globe and the collective effort and involvement of the people will help sustain the momentum of the new integrated tourism campaign. Let’s all keep the FUN rolling.
