Salve, Saramsam Pizzettas!

Saramsam Ylocano Restaurant, the trailblazer in Ilocano fusion cuisine, did it again. A very, very nice alternative to their famous pizzas is their very new Pizzettas sampler with poqui-poqui, chicken pesto and pinakbet fillings. They look like mini-quiches, but the taste is more akin to bruschetta or a special toast of some sorts. With filling, the crust stays crisp and a bit chewy. I sense there’s a tad of butter on the crust, but it compliments the really good, cheesy eggplant salad especially when drizzled with some fish sauce. I also love the pinakbet, oh, wow! The veggies’ texture is superb! I get rashes from chicken, so I’ll leave the chicken pesto to you to judge. I wish Saramsam can patent their fine creations because I noticed some copycats. That’s bad, folks, stealing ideas!

Congrats, Sam and Arnel, for another job well done!

Here’s their very famous “the original baraniw (wild basil) iced tea.” I order a pitcher everytime I go to Saramsam. Bracingly good!
