I hope you all had a wonderful, blessed Christmas. Christmas is when the bounty of the hearts extends to the dinner table. It’s delightful to receive all sorts of food as presents. I was curious what a good-looking canned corned beef with a good-sounding name tastes like, and so I opened one of the Delimondo Ranch Style Corned Beef and cooked it the traditional Filipino way, sautéed with garlic, supposedly with red onions, but I didn’t have onions, so I just used garlic, which is fine with me.
My verdict: Promise, this one’s the better tasting corned beef. It’s chunky, juicy and pepped up with the right spices. Even the saltiness is exact. I used to like only one corned beef, the one with a blue label, but having tasted this premium corned beef by Katrina Ponce-Enrile’s Jaka Group, I have found a new love.
Delimondo Deli Products include luncheon meats, a variety of bacons, sausages and chorizos, ready-made pasta sauces, dips and pâtés, special oils for salads and sauces, and special marinades. Her bacalao a la mestiza also interests me. The line is available at Ayala-Alabang and Salcedo Village weekend markets and at her own restaurant, Petra & Pilar, located at the Jaka Center Building, Export Drive corner Chino Roces Ave., Makati City.
