Bottomless dining at Yakimix

By sundown, minus Ericke because she had to attend a wedding at Barbara’s, the foodies vamoosed to Brandon’s most-loved Yakimix for all-you-can-eat Japanese, Korean and Cantonese eats. Reservation is not honored in this restaurant.

The branch along Macapagal Blvd. was teeming with tourists and locals as usual. We had to wait for a table.

Lemonade was offered at the waiting area, heheh, they know how to perk up the famished guests.

We waited for like an hour. I don’t know how other guests do it, but they managed to stay for an extended time (Some were already seated before us and they were still there when we were leaving.)

All the prominent Asian ingredients were on the buffet tables. Sushi, sashimi, ebi tempura, salads and ready-to-cook marinated meats were overflowing. I kept going back to the Korean section for japchae (stir-fried sweet potato noodles and veggies) and sukju namul (seasoned bean sprouts).

[My first plate.]

Brandon and the dad feasted on grilled (smokeless, btw) salmon belly slices, shrimps, squid, pork intestines and marinated beef while I made room for bacon-wrapped asparagus and peppered beef. The meats were tender, good quality.

A tad pricey at 580 Php per head, I think, but less pricey than Vikings, and definitely, a bargain compared to something such as Sofitel’s Spiral  multi-cuisine buffet. In SoCal, where Asian buffets are ubiquitous, dining at lesser-known buffets is cheap; the price is rather steeper in places like Todai, Onami and Midori, however.

We were quite lugi, as in shortchanged, by Shirley. Such a tiny bituka!

The buffet isn’t complete without the desserts. Happy Brandon made his own ice cream sundae with sprinkles several times, woohoo! I had just a green apple ice pop☺
