One Step Closer to Hawaii: Flip-Flopping with Havaianas

The early morning showers didn’t dampen the spirits of the 102 competing pairs in the Havaianas Philippines’ “Always Summer: Race to Hawaii” Regional Leg held last Saturday, April 9th. Participants trooped to the NBC Tent as early as 4 AM. “Summer is a state of the mind,” says Anne Gonzalez, Managing Director of Havaianas Philippines. For the relaxed, happy Havaianaticos, wearing Havaianas flip-flops knows no season.

The showers ceased as soon as the program started. The competitors, all in Havaianas flip-flops, were itching to go around the Bonifacio Global City and finish the 6 different fun summer challenges as fast as they can to qualify for the final leg of the race to Hawaii in Boracay. Only the top 20 teams will be sent to Boracay courtesy of Seair and The Tides Boracay. They will also be handed cool cameras from Sony and hot summer essentials from David and Goliath, Hawaiian Tropic and Havaianas. An all-expense-paid 6 day-5 night Hawaii holiday for two awaits the ultimate winner.

Poweraide Sports Drink and viva! Mineralized Water provided energy boost and hydration all through the race.

Two teams from Northern Luzon were able to get in the top 20. Michael Balcita and Bernard Rebollido of Baguio City clocked the fastest time, while Jamielyn Ira Dy and Aldrain Law of Pangasinan and Manila came in third.
