Formerly named San Miguel and built by the Augustinian friars during the Spanish Colonial period in the 17th century, the red brick church in Baroque and Neo-Classical style in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte is the largest in the entire Ilocos. It is a favorite for weddings because of its very long 137-meter aisle, the longest in the Philippines — a bride’s dream, I guess. Its popularity rose in 1983 when Irene Marcos, daughter of former-president F. Marcos, tied the knot with Gregorio Araneta III.
