Holy Week Sightings: KA-BLOG’s Mico Aytona, sandboarding and other bloggables on Ilocos sand

3/31/2010 Mico Aytona shoots an episode for GMA Kapuso’s Ka-Blog, a teen magazine show. The Laoag Sand Dunes sandboarding/off-roading feature is scheduled to air on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 9:00 AM.

“Astig!!!!” was all he could utter after driving the mean machine on his own. Overwhelmed, perhaps.

Sandboarding, the new board sport on sand to try in Ilocos! Developed by the LEAD Movement.

A ladybugged tourist. I think she got ‘em from here.

Chucked… or Converts? One and the same. Laid-back chic personified.

Now they can wear their scarves, which were ubiquitous on the streets  in 2007.

Fashionable size… MINI! Ewww, if you bring the whole bottle!!!!!

4/2/2010 I spotted the roving Havaianas team :) They ended giving me one of those flip-floats.

Fit and fab Alma Oida in surfing mode. Surfing lessons in Kapuluan Vista Resort, anyone?

The most adorable reusable water bottle I spotted at the beach. It belongs to Red Dot’s fashion guru, Me-Ann Cua Macaraeg. It’s from Pylones (pronounced pee-lone), her fave store for the cutest knickknacks.

Photography gear envy! I have to get a DiCAPac SLR Pack Waterproof Camera Case for myself, too.

One of these surfboards belongs to ABS-CBN kapamilya Jericho Rosales.

Or, maybe, one of these. Surf’s up photos of Echo. *inserts* I had to check… he was on a purple one.

Henna tattooing by Tattoo de Iloco found at the Villa del Mar beachfront in Saud, Pagudpud.

Skin art masterpiece by no less than Janer Santos, The Premier Tattooist of the North, a PhilTAG member.

The leading handy phone dealer in Ilocos Norte, Vertext, also set camp in Villa del Mar. Mixing business with pleasure :)

I overheard that kapamilya  Enchong Dee and Victor Basa were on the other side of the Saud Beach stretch. Promise to post photos if Ericke was lucky.

Wishin’ you all a happy Easter and a bright summer!

Kapuluan in Pagudpud, the common denominator

We keep going back to this little piece of heaven tucked away in Balaoi, Pagudpud. We were there, again, yesterday.

Ambassador of surfing, actor Jericho Rosales and Pure Power Gabriel Valenciano were staycationing for the Holy Week. They hit the beach for some action.

I didn’t mind the sultry sun… the view was great!

Champion surfer Nikki de la Paz was impressive.

Another excellent surfer, architect Buji Libarnes, in red, was having a swell time. I guess everyone had positive vibes. Did I mention he designed the resort? The best choice, I think… someone who loves the beach and truly understands the whole surfing lifestyle.

Kapuluan’s very sweet and nice Alma Oida joined in.

Alma’s husband, Mike, is out to get his adrenalin fix. Both of them attend to the kitchen, their very own organic garden, their guests, the operations, and still find time to ride the waves.

This pair of Sperry Top-Siders caught my attention. I wonder who owns them?

He was taking photos of the surfin’ bunch. I asked if he is a photographer… he is more than that…

He turns out to be cinematographer Ricardo Jose “DBoy” Trofeo.  We talked about Lensbaby, Holga and Diana, Hasselblad, Panasonic LX-3, Leica, Nikon and Cannon, paperweights, Ridley Scott and Martin Scorsese, my camera viewer’s dirty protector and a lot more. His mother is a Rivas from Vigan. “Quiet” is how he described Northern Ilocos. Such a pretty straightforward but humble person… he directed the photography of  quite a number of films such as Nobody, Nobody but Juan.  He wouldn’t tell me; I had to search the net when I got home :)

Here’s a larger view of Echo.

Do you recognize this lady?

All geared-up here.

Ahh, BB Gandanghari! My family and I love her!

Love these guys, too. Thanks to Echo and Gab for being so nice.

My first shot of Echo

More on Kapuluan in my next post… hittin’ the sack in a while. It’s 7:18 am.

Previous posts on Kapuluan… here… and here.
